Bat colony of Foster Rd Bridge

Here in San Angelo, we have the great gift of a couple good sized bat colonies. Nico has never seen bats fly from their roost at dusk, so I decided to take him to go see them.
These particular bats are Brazilian free tailed bats (the ones you commonly see in movies flying in swarms all at once at dusk). This colony is made up of about 1300 bats. They are about half the size of your palm and very fast and loud. Its pretty cool to see that many bats take off all at once.
Please forgive me for the poor quality of the pictures. They are fast, it was dark, very windy, and we were on the side of the road. :) I did swipe a picture from google to show you a close up of how they look.

So cool! So, if they are Brazilian bats, does that mean there are more of them in Brazil?

Awesome! You'll have to tell me where to take my kids to see that. They will love it! Great pics too!
