We also went to see Gulf Island National Seashore. Apparently all the sand here is imported from Florida because if left natural, it would not be fun to swim in. Being the curious person I am, I wanted to see what it was supposed to look like. I have to say it was way different. The grass and palms just grew out of the ocean and eventually it started forming into land. You don't want to walk on it because you'll be ankle deep in muck. It was interesting though.

We went on a little nature hike to see the area a bit more and got eaten by some bugs that were too small to photograph.
Keith climbed up a live oak tree by using whisteria as a rope. It was pretty neat.
We saw lots of marsh critters. It was very strange seeing freshwater animals and salt water animals living in the same area.

Derek's favorites were the little crabs.

I love the wildlife crossing sign! Who thinks these things up?
The eildlife is amazing. I never even heard of that place when I lived there... what city is it in?
Young lady, you got altogether too close to that gator - I don't care if it was to take a great picture or not! Who's holding the crab. I'll admit, it's cute to look at, but I'm not so sure about touching and holding it.
Make your sister post something on her blog!
