Today we took a trip to the firehouse. We went with Ben and Valerie to take a little tour. The girls thought it was pretty cool, but I think if we had left those two boys there, they wouldn't have even noticed. They enjoyed getting in the rigs, trying on the clothes, trying to pick up the tools, touring the house, and pretending to be firemen. Derek was so excited that he reverted to being shy, which doesn't happen. The firemen were suprised to see that he could tell them which ones were the pumper, the tiller, the brush fire unit (his absolute favorite), and the fire chief's car. He also got to see a new one that he didn't know, which was for hazardous materials. Toward the end of our tour, some of the firemen had to go out on a call and the kids got to see them suit up and take off. I have a feeling this isn't going to be my last trip to the fire station, because before Derek went to bed, he asked if we could go again tomorrow. :)
