This, I believe, is the real reason Derek and Keith like to go hiking... their badges. They collect hiking badges at all the state parks we go to. The one on the left is Keith's. Derek found Keith's stick on a trip to Little Missouri Falls. Derek's is on the right. Derek got his stick in Colorado so he could collect badges like daddy. Anyway, Derek has 8 and Keith has 12 (for a total of 18 different places since January).
