Today we went to Crater of Diamonds State Park. It is only diamond mine in the U.S. You pay an entrance fee, dig, and whatever you find, you keep. (Nico, you'll have to come visit so you can find me some sparklies). Derek was very excited at first, but got quickly discouraged after minutes of searching. He turned his attention to playing with the wet clay. Cassie sat on her blanket and dictated what she thought we needed to be doing in her own language. It was very hot and there were several signs around warning us that the tempurature in the mine was expected to reach above 110 degrees. YUCK! We dug for a few hours and gave up after only finding quartz crystals and coal. At least we have another state park off the list!
