Weekend trip to Oklahoma

This weekend we went to Oklahoma. Keith's cousin was graduating from her school, and we wanted to be there to see it.We got there late Friday night. Here is Becky and all the people who came to see her right before her graduation.

Then we decided to take the kids somewhere fun since they had to be in the car for 6 hours and then sit through a graduation. So we took them to the Science Museum Oklahoma.

Here is the fam in front of a saturn 5 rocket engine.

If you are ever in Oklahoma City, this is a must see! There are over 5,000 hands on exhibits. We were there for 4 and a half hours and didn't even get to do half of the stuff there. And unlike some museums, their hands on exhibits were awesome amounts of fun for both kids. They raced lego cars that they built themself (the track timed the cars), did a bunch of space related experiments, learned about simple machines (cassie's favorite section because they had a 3 story archimedes screw slide!), a planetarium, played plaque killing games in a giant mouth, manipulated gravity with a vacuum tube, and a bunch more. Like I said we were running around the whole time we were there and didn't get to do half of it.

We went back to Becky's house for a barbeque afterwards and then hit the road again back home. We decided to stop in Fort Smith, Arkansas over night because we were all tired. Also, I had never visited Fort Smith, and Keith wanted to show me the history. The next morning , we woke up early to go explore the town.
I have to say, Fort Smith has the most unique visitor center I've ever been to. It is a restored brothel house! They had all the parlors and the office set up just like it would have been back in the early 20th century (when it was legal). So of course we had to lounge around in the parlor. :)

Then we went to see Historic Fort Smith. This fort was important in reguards to the indian territory and the lawlessness there during the early 1800's. The gallows here are famous for helping restore order to the Indian territories.

I had to get the kids some hats from the gift shop because they were way cute!

We had an icecream break, and I had to get a picture of Cassie's cold face.

We also went to the trolley museum. They had a huge wide gauge steam engine out front. The kids were super excited for that. We got there really early, so we were the only ones on the trolley. The highlight though is that Keith got to drive the trolley :)

After Fort Smith, we were just ready to be home, so home we went :)
