Today we took a drive up to Mount Nebo State Park. It's one of the tallest places in Arkansas. It is a beautiful mountain about 2 hours north of us. We planned on taking a 4 mile hike, but we didn't plan on it being a thousand degrees.
We made it about a mile before every single one of us was sweating. Even baby Cassie (who gets to ride on my chest) was melting. I tried to get all the hair unmatted from her head, but she was still very uncomfortable. We decided to take a shortcut to a different trail that lead back to the visitor center.
Im glad we did because we got to see sunset point on the way back. It was so serene (you know, minus the heat and extreme sweating). We got back to the visitor center, drank some ice cold sodas and my wonderful husband hiked the last 1/2 mile by himself to bring the car to us. What a trooper! While we were waiting on him, the kids had a race to see who could roll down the mountain fastest (Meaghan won). From where I was sitting, it looked like they could fall off the mountain because it was pretty much a straight dropoff. It was pretty scary, but they had fun.

Weird! We have a Mt. Nebo here right by my house. I haven't ever tried to climb it, but it's on the list.
