Just recently I realized my son has an accent. A very strong southern accent. I don't know why, but for some reason I just figured he never would pick one up because I don't really have an accent from anywhere. I realized it one day when he came in from playing outside and wanted Keith and I to go down to his clubhouse. When he opened the door, he said "Hay y'all. Do ya wanna go dawn there an' see in ma clubhawse?" That is the moment I realized I am raising southern children! I do believe though, that he can turn it on and off, because sometimes I don't notice it and sometimes it blows me away.
I've also been asked about my buddy getting lost yesterday. Well, after courtney walked the stage, Keith, his dad, cassie, derek and I decided to go down to ground level. When the class started walking out, I went to the gate to try and get a picture of her on her way out. When I got back to everyone, everyone was 3 instead of 4 people. Apparently Derek was following me and I didn't know he was coming. Everybody was trying to leave and we could barely walk around, much less look for a little one. When I finally found him I couldn't have been prouder. Derek and the police officer told me that Derek walked right up to the officer, told him he was lost, and said he needed help. I knew he listened to me every once in a while! eventually we found him sitting by the stage playing games with the police officer. He knew he was safe, so there were no worries there. The rest of us aged 20 years though! No better time to loose your child than when 4,000 people are trying to leave at the same time.
