So this is just a random post of weekend things. I had some other plans too, but I lost my phone and couldn't contact anyone, so this is what we did.
First is a picture of our "Christmas berries". I don't know what they are, but they are so Christmasy looking that I love them.
Yesterday and today we went to the Arts and Crafts fair. What a blast! They had so much cute stuff that you can easily go broke. The only thing that I had the opportunity to buy, though was a pop gun for Derek. Yesterday he saw all the other little boys with one and had to have one too (figured he deserved one- he was very well behaved for 3 hours while we ran around looking at crafts). My mother in law bought a very cute Halloween wreath for my door (thank you. I love it) and Aunt Carla got Derek a little native flute.
I have to tell my headache Derek story that goes along with our ordeal today though. At about 1:00, we (The kids, Grammy and I) were going to meet up with my sister in law Carla to go to the Arts and Crafts show. Derek was NOT excited about going again (we spent 3 hours there the previous day- alot of fun for a 4 year old). So it was a chore just to get him willingly get in the car. Then when we get there, he starts fussing about who knows what to anyone who will listen. YAY! He finally settles down and decides to just try and enjoy whats around him like he normally does. (He usually finds a way to have fun, no matter how boring the the place I drag him to is) We came to a native music tent (both my kids are fascinated with all kinds of music). Cassie tries to stand up in her stroller and Derek goes up to the tent with Carla. When I finally get Cassie seated, Carla is getting Derek a little flute and he is all sumbeams. He is so happy. Then he tries to play the flute and realizes its not easy. He spies a pan flute and says "look mom thats a cool one too! Maybe Carla wants to get it" (i wasn't sure if he meant for him or for her). I see him talk first to Carla then to Grammy. Apparently he is trying to con them into getting the pan flute for him instead of the one he picked! When he realizes no one will, he throws a fit. "i hate this flute! Just give it back to that tent! You can't have it we have to just give it back to the man!" ARGH! We go on like this (even with our constant pull asides for scolding and being ignored) until we get to the car. On our way home, I play the flute for Cassie and she is singing along. Then I show Derek how to play it. Of course he loves it again. (in the pictures below he's hiding behind the car because he didn't want me to see him playing with it). Then I told him that he hurt alot of peoples feeling when he behaved the way he did, and after a minute he runs off. (he always does this when he realizes that his actions effect other people- good or bad) I asked him who he thinks got hurt feelings and he wispers "my mommy... aunt carla... gwammy... the tent man... pwobabwy... thats what i think". I let him think for a minute before I asked him if he would like to call his aunt carla and apologize and of course he did. The frustrating part is he never behaves like that when its just cassie, him and me. I don't get it. Anyway, that's my rant of frustration. All in all it was a good weekend. I love hanging out with the girls in my family (especially if it gets me out of the house with adults ha ha) so I was glad to do that.

Then below is a picture I just thought was funny. Keith and Derek were playing a game of "who's faster- Daddy and the camera or Derek?" His expression and posture just make me laugh.

Nicely done my girl. You handled that very well. Tell Derek I think his flute is COOL and can't wait for him to play it for me!
